7 Unbelievable Facts About Environmental Quality Effect On Health.

1) Poor Air Quality

Poor Air Quality

If you’re on your way back home from the airport, the first thing you’ll notice is that there are few people in cars. This might make you wonder why it’s so expensive to drive to this country. Well, it’s mostly because of air pollution. Pollution of any kind can cause severe sickness and even death. And when it comes to exposure to polluted air, the more you breathe or inhale it, the higher your chances of becoming sick or falling ill. If not air pollution, then what? There are many things that can lead to exposure to polluted air, including:

Smog (pollutants from smokestacks, car exhaust and other sources such as road salt, fertilizers, pesticides, etc.)

Airborne pollutants (such as ozone, formaldehyde, lead, nitrogen dioxide)

Dusty materials (such as soil and dust mites)

Stirred ground/water

Noise, dust, smoke and heat can all contribute to environmental pollution. The particles of dirt and grime that are released by industry and homes all tend to move around like debris.

2) Water Pollution

Water Pollution

Water pollution can cause serious health implications. When contaminants seep into the water supply, which usually occurs when industries release toxic chemicals into lakes and rivers, the resulting liquid waste then makes its way into nearby lakes and streams. Then, the water can have major effects on the health of individuals. Here are some examples:

Elevated blood pressure

Elevated triglyceride and LDL levels

Loss of teeth

Elevated cholesterol

Elevation of iron levels

Elevated protein levels

Elevated glucose levels

Elevated sugar levels

Elevated pH levels

Elevated alkalinity

Elevated acidity

Elevated lead levels

Elevated uranium levels

Elevated cadmium levels

3) Acid Rain

Acid Rain

While you drive along the coast of North America, take note of how little pollution there is. If all of that debris has gone away, then the next thing you'll see will be an almost pristine landscape. But the rain has a hidden danger too. At times, it can have acidic properties that can harm crops. You don't want to think about those items unless you know exactly what to do with them. An example is sulfuric acid, carbon dioxide can be acidic if mixed into the water. So, make sure that the water is safe to drink before using it.

4) Smoke

Smoke

Are you aware that smoking can lead to lung cancer? We all know about smokers' cancers, but we also never really think about these issues unless it's our own fault. Smokers' lungs are overworked when breathing through small vents that may give rise to irritation and inflammation in the lower part of the respiratory tract. It also exposes us to other pollutants, such as carcinogens, nitrosamines, etc. When smoking for prolonged periods of time, it leads to the development of chronic bronchitis and emphysema. Smoking and passive smoking, on the other hand, can expose you to more hazardous levels of secondhand smoke.

5) Carbon Dioxide and Methane Oxides (DO)

Carbon Dioxide and Methane Oxides (DO)

When the atmosphere gets filled with various types of gases to make up for its lack of oxygen, then it can create something called "greenhouse effect" and "ozone layer". That's where the green house gas in the air is captured and produced from our activities, thus changing the climate. To maintain our planet’s condition, this process of carbon dioxide emission must occur. Our efforts to reduce this are being made to cut down on greenhouse effects. For instance, in September 2021, EU member states agreed in principle to develop guidelines for controlling carbon dioxide emissions during transport, according to the draft conclusions, they say transportation should account for 10% of total national CO 2 emissions. In addition to this, the World Energy Council says that a significant step towards achieving a zero-carbon economy is to put measures in place to combat methane oxide emissions in the coming decade. Though it would take time to get used up to, this could still drastically improve the environment and bring much needed changes in the future.

6) Oxygen Levels

Oxygen Levels

You’ve probably been listening to news reports about high levels of oxygen in the air. Maybe you feel dizzy because the weather isn’t great, but that doesn’t mean you're suffering from hypoxia. Hypoxia (not getting enough oxygen to our brain because our nervous systems can’t cope with the demand) is when the body’s natural mechanisms don’t function well. Symptoms such as dizziness, nausea, and vomiting are caused by low oxygen levels in the blood. In cases where hypoxia persists, these symptoms would become unbearable and people can even start experiencing organ failure. Because of hypoxia, many countries such as Australia and Canada issued their own hypoxia warning alert. People who can survive less than 60 minutes without the aid of medical aid would get an email stating their case and may receive assistance from organizations such as the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Compensation, which helps cover ambulance services for patients who need help but cannot afford for urgent hospital treatment.

7) Maringá Root Extract

Maringá Root Extract

Maringá leaves, also known as Maringá oil, are useful for treating several diseases that are associated with poor air quality. Maringá contains antioxidants that can treat allergies, coughs, asthma, COPD, heartburn, muscle pain, and stomach problems. Studies have shown that leaf Maringá oil has a significant impact on the immune system, and when it was applied topically or taken orally, it had promising results in treating conditions ranging from allergies and respiratory infections to autoimmune diseases and depression. Another study showed that lemongrass, another herb found in Maringá, can boost lymphocyte production in people who have experienced a cough or cold by up to 30% compared to a control group.

There are many reasons that air pollution impacts health, and many ways to manage it. How do we manage it? A lot of simple things we can do to be proactive. Some important ones that we can do are:

Reach out to others! Don’t let anyone close the doors you’re closed yourself if you’re suffering from respiratory problems like asthma or allergies. Talk to someone about the symptoms, and listen to their suggestions and advice to better manage your symptoms. As I mentioned earlier, talking to somebody is one effective way to talk to a trusted person.

Stay hydrated! It not only prevents dehydration, but also improves circulation. A good diet can keep us alive. Just remember that water is essential for both our physical and mental well being. Make sure you consume lots of water, even in the summer. Even if people suggest drinking lemonade instead, get some fresh juice instead! Also, eat plenty of fruits and vegetables and lots of fruit.

Get educated: Since education is power, it’s always worth knowing how to solve problems. It could be a friend, family person or colleague who could be able to help. Many people are unaware about how unhealthy their situation is, and they sometimes just need another ear to listen or to offer advice. Look for social media posts that can give insights about certain issues on the web. Most importantly, try to look for solutions that might work for you rather than against you! Remember, different situations have various needs, and you need to find solutions that fit.
